Well, we all just wanna be big rockstars
And live in hilltop houses, drivin’ fifteen cars
The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap
We’ll all stay skinny ’cause we just won’t eat

Brad Hawpe0004.JPGWhen Brad Hawpe takes the field to hit, he arrives at the plate with that song blaring. The lefty gears up for a swing and more often than not will produce a hit. He’s one of the best players on the Colorado Rockies, he’s got the strongest and most accurate arm in our outfield, he’s a rockstar for the Rockies, and now, he’s going to be an All Star.

On July 5th as the Rockies were being introduced, the announcer said, “2009 All Star Brad Hawpe!!” I was stoked, my Hawper was in the All Star game!! As he took the fieldBrad Hawpe0005.JPG I yelled, “Yeah Brad Hawpe!! I voted for you 250 times!!” The guy in front of me looked at me at first like I was crazy, and then nodded approvingly. I sat at my computer and voted 250 times because in my eyes, no one deserved the All Star game like Brad Hawpe. I didn’t really expect Hawpe to hear me tell him that I voted for him 250 times, and maybe if he did, he would think I needed a life (which is true), but I sure hope he knows that he deserves it.

Yes, I was pushing and pushing to get Brad Hawpe into the All Star game, it was something I put up on Twitter, Facebook, and advertised in my blog. Even if he isn’t a starter, I’m so proud of him for making it to his first All Star game.

Another face we’ll see in the All Star game is Jason Marquis. As of tonight, the first pitcher in the majors this season to win 11 games. Last season, that was the number of wins he had… total. The mesh between the Rockies and Marquis has been unbelievable, and it’ll be exciting to see what he can do for the National League.

Jeff Huson.JPGIn other news, I finally got my own camera!! And… I went a little trigger happy at the games. I ended July 4th and 5th with a picture count of 194. I didn’t take any pictures of the fireworks because I killed my battery taking so many pictures.

On July 4th, I caught one of my favorite guys from FSN, Jeff Huson, doing the Rockies Pre-Game Show… it’s now possible that he thinks I’m stalking him. I was really just trying to get a good picture of him, but then every time I was looking over that way, he happened to look my way, and once he gave me a weird look. He might think I’m a weird creeper now. But just so you know Jeff Huson, I’m not.

Obviously I didn’t put in all 194 pictures, but here are some that I thoroughly enjoy. I’m still working out the kinks of the camera, trying to get the pictures to a smaller size. Until then, enjoy!!

Great pictures Emily! I change the size of photos in the software that I use for saving pictures. I use Adobe Photoshop Elements and it has a function where I can “save photos for the web” and it allows me to size them down to make them more manageable.

Those pics are awesome. Especially the one with the fighters flying overhead. So cool. As for Hawpe, I’m happy for him, but I gotta disagree that “no one deserved the All Star game like Brad Hawpe”… not as long as Albert is in the running that is. I kid, because I care. I’ll try to holla at Brad when I’m in St. Louis next week for all the festivities!

  3. Kylie

I just asphyxiated. You, my dear, are the photographic goddess of all that is good and holy (aka the Rockies). That picture of our two boys together is particularly awesome.
I also love Ian’s expression in that mound conference photo. Sweet. And you caught Huston at the perfect millisecond… what great pictures.
HAWPER. And apparently he’s starting in Beltrán’s place!

Nice pics! So what kind of camera did you get? 194 pictures over two games isn’t that overboard – I’ve been known to take over 100 at a single game. Obviously I don’t print them all, I pick and choose the best ones. As for managing the file/image size, I either do what Julia says (I also have Photoshop Elements), or when you upload the photo there is a box you can check that says “display as thumbnail” and then you can enter a pixel size (500 usually is good to fill the column on the blog). I’ll be happy to try to answer any photography questions for you!

Julia- I know that there’s a way to change it on the camera. I should probably do more manual reading, but, c’mon, who reads the manual? I just downloaded Picasa for my camera, and that’s working pretty well, I’m just trying to figure everything else out.
Jeff- Since it was the fourth of July, I knew that was going to happen. I wanted something a little better, but since it was during the National Anthem, I didn’t want to be too disrespectful. Have fun at the All Star game!! I’m quite jealous.
Kylie- i did love that picture of our boys together. It was lovely. I’ve got some more of Tulo if you want me to ship them over toward you. And I’m SO excited about Brad Hawpe. I do love him.
Sue- I’ll try to find Photoshop Elements, and then it might wrk better to do that. Otherwise I have to shrink them down from gigantic size.

My, my. Give the girl a camera and she takes it to the limit! Nice shots in there and in no time you’ll be getting some “all-timers” that you will keep and be hanging on the wall. I’ll have to be checking out this camera of yours in a few short hours.
